CBN imposes N7 USSD transaction fee on Nigerians

The Central Bank of Nigeria has set new charges payable by customers using USSD services for their financial transactions. The apex bank said the transaction fees are effective Tuesday, setting a flat rate of N6.98 per transaction. This was contained in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the apex bank’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi; and Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde. The announcement was released in a statement titled, ‘Joint Statement By Central Bank Of Nigeria and Nigerian Communications Commission On Pricing Of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) Services’. ‌The document reads; “ Effective March 16, 2021, USSD services for financial transactions conducted at DMBs (Deposit Money Banks) and all CBN-licensed institutions will be charged at a flat fee of N6.98 per transaction. Pantami: FG Plans To Replace BVN With NIN

By Blessing Olaifa Abuja The Federal Government has stated arrangements are ongoing to replace the Bank Verification Numbers (BVN) with the National Identity Numbers (NIN). The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Dr Isa Pantami, who disclosed this to newsmen shortly after a tour of telecoms operators and NIN licensees in Abuja, said President Muhammadu Buhari has been briefed on the on-going NIN registrations. Pantami who said the President was happy with the conducts of the exercise so far, added he had also briefed the National Economic Sustainability Committee headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on the imperative of replacing BVN with NIN. Pantami argued that while BVN was only for accounts holders with various banks, the National Identity Numbers are for all Nigerians irrespective of their status. Buratai: Buhari Repaid My Father By Making Me Chief Of Army Staff

  The immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (rtd), has admitted that the President gave him an appointment, because of the relationship between his father and Buhari. Buratai stated this during a gala night organized by the 29th Regular Course Association in Abuja. The event was to honour the ex Army Chief as the longest-serving COAS. According to him, his appointment in July 2015 was a prize for the loyalty of his father, Yusuf Buratai, to Buhari. Buratai’s father was a non-commissioned officer in the Royal West African Frontier Force and a World War II veteran who fought in Burma. Passing out parade of batch 29 Nigerian Navy recruits trainees

After several months of Military education and training which establish and improve the capabilities of military personnels in their respective roles, we are glad to announce the passing out parade of Nigerian Navy Batch 29 trainees which is to be held in the Nigerian Navy Basic Training school, Onne Rivers State on the 18th of July. Their training begins with recruit training, proceeds to education and training specific to military roles, and sometimes includes additional training during a military career. Three months ago the Emir of Kauran Namoda in Zamfara State, then a Major in the Nigerian Army was under strict command of a subordinate of the Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen TY Buratai, he couldn't even dare see the COAS at that time. Now the table has turned, he is an Emir and the Army Chief went to see him to solicit his goodwill and cooperation. The Chief (Lt Gen Buratai) had to stand up when addressing him as a mark of respect. Only God elevates whosoever he wishes at the time he wishes, nobody knows tomorrow! OFFICIAL! Godwin Obaseki emerges as PDP’s gubernatorial candidate for Edo election

Governor Godwin Obaseki has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s flag bearer for the Edo State governorship election taking place on September 19th, 2020. Obaseki was announced as winner after the delegates cast their votes at the party’s primary held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the state capital.
